Combining strong engineering design & analysis skills with robust project & teamworking experience.

Hi, my name is Alex Wang and I’m a senior B.S.E candidate pursuing degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace engineering at Case Western Reserve University. Thank you for taking the time to check out my site. Hosted here are some examples of projects I’ve worked on professionally and during college, as well as some more wholistic background information on me as an individual. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.

Resume

I was born and raised in Seattle and have always considered the Pacific Northwest my home. I have two younger siblings and growing up I learned the importance of being a role model, mentor, and friend.

I have always been a big science fiction enthusiast, immersing myself in the fantastical futuristic worlds of Star Wars and Warhammer 40k as a kid and eventually expanding to Isaac Asimov and Isaac Arthur’s Science and Futurism podcast.

I’ve also always had a deep curiosity for building things and understanding how they work. As a small child I would disassemble anything I could get my hands on and spent countless hours creating my own Lego structures from the heaping bin of pieces we had in our basement. Eventually I would go on to co-captain my high school First Tech Challange robotics team, leading us to state qualifiers two years in a row and cementing my love for designing and building things.

Soon these passions converged, and I became deeply interested in space exploration and the technologies that enabled it. Since high school I’ve eagerly followed the development of America’s second space age, watching rocket launch live streams with excitement and eating up every bit of space news I could find. This love of space exploration led to my choice to double major in mechanical and aerospace engineering so that I may one day play a role in the next big leap in human history.

Outside of my engineering and science fiction interests I love nature, am fascinated by economics and geopolitics, like to read about history, love to cook, and enjoy playing with our four family cats. I also enjoy playing and watching sports. In college I joined the CWRU men’s club rugby team and enjoy watching the Seattle Seahawks play. My favorite TV show is Amazon’s The Expanse, and the best book I’ve read recently is Hans Rosling’s Factfulness.
